about me

Thomas Fischer is the professor of aged care nursing at Evangelische Hochschule Dresden - University of Applied Sciences (ehs), Dresden, Germany. He is also adjunct professor at the Faculty of Health, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). His main research focus is on pain in older persons, especially in patients with dementia or delirium. Other current projects focus on strategies to support double-duty carers and to improve health-literacy of migrants in eastern Germany. He studied nursing at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and Public Health at Bielefeld University. He received his doctorate in nursing science (Dr. rerum curae) from Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He held research positions at the University hospital in Frankfurt am Main and at Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He also worked as a quality development officer for different care providers and as a senior consultant in the field of science and innovation policy.
