Jose M. Martin-Moreno is a former director of programme management at the WHO Regional Office for Europe, and previously served as DG-chief medical officer of Spain. He has also advised the European Commission (through working groups under the Directorate General for Health and Consumers, and the Directorate General of Research), the European Parliament (Scientific and Technical Office), and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, being the author of more than 300 scientific papers. He is currently professor of public health at the University of Valencia, head of medical education and quality at the Clinical Hospital, chair of the ASPHER Honours Committee and director of the Stampar Summer School of Public Health, He is a Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health - Royal College of Physicians of the UK, and senior adviser-health systems & public health at the WHO Office for Europe. He holds degrees from the University of Granada, Spain (MD, PhD), and from Harvard University, US (MPH, DrPH).
