about me

Stefanie Becker, a passionate advocate for the rights and well-being of older persons, combines her heartfelt dedication with a scientific background, holding a PhD in Gerontology and an MSc in Psychology. As the Director of Alzheimer Switzerland since 2015, Stefanie has been instrumental in shaping Switzerland's national dementia strategy. Her leadership has played a pivotal role in raising care standards and preparing the healthcare system for demographic changes, reflecting her commitment to enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable individuals.Prior to her role at Alzheimer Switzerland, Stefanie Becker co-founded the Institute on Ageing at Bern University of Applied Sciences, where she championed interdisciplinary research to address future public health challenges. From 2012 to 2018, she served as the President and board member of the Swiss Gerontological Society. Additionally, Stefanie established and led the journal "Applied Gerontology," focusing on issues pertinent to ageing societies. Stefanie's dedication to ensuring dignified and self-determined lives for older individuals extends beyond her professional roles. She actively engages on national boards, contributes to public administration, and participates in foundations. Internationally, she serves as a board member of Alzheimer Europe, and her expertise is sought after as a speaker and consultant in the field.
